Channel partners handle field installation and client relationships.
SMARTNOVA PLATFORM
What is the SmartNova Platform?
+
SmartNova is EnSmart's proprietary unified building automation platform — the open, scalable software and firmware layer that powers every EnSmart product. SmartNova is our unified building automation platform: open-protocol, AI-native, built for the world. Every DDC Controller, BMS, EMS, Tenant Billing and AI Analytics product runs on SmartNova.
Is SmartNova an open platform?
+
Yes. SmartNova Platform is built on open international protocols — BACnet/IP (ASHRAE 135 / ISO 16484-5), Modbus RTU/TCP, MQTT. There is no proprietary lock-in. Any BACnet-certified device from any manufacturer can connect to SmartNova. This ensures complete interoperability and protects your investment forever.
What makes SmartNova different from other building automation platforms?
+
SmartNova is built specifically for Indian conditions, Indian energy standards (BEE, ECBC 2017) and rapid automated deployment. It is the only building automation platform that automates the full engineering workflow — from IO list upload to commissioned building — eliminating 18–27 days of project delays. Open-protocol BACnet/IP with no vendor lock-in.
Can SmartNova Platform integrate with third-party BMS systems?
+
Yes. SmartNova's native BACnet/IP and Modbus support means it integrates with any third-party BMS, DDC, SCADA or field device that supports these open protocols. EnNode Gateway extends this further to MQTT — connecting virtually any legacy or modern device to SmartNova.
PRODUCTS
What is a DDC Controller?
+
DDC stands for Direct Digital Controller. It processes analogue and digital signals from field sensors and actuators to control HVAC, lighting and other building systems. EnSmart DDC controllers are powered by SmartNova Platform with ARM A53 processor, native BACnet/IP support and automated IO-to-commissioning engineering.
What IO modules does EnSmart offer?
+
EnSmart's EN Series includes 13+ IO module models: ENCPU-V7, EN4DDAM, EN4DI4DO, EN8DI8DO, EN16DI, EN4DIAI3DO2AO, ENAIAO, EN4DIDO, EN2DIDO, EN4AO, EN16DO, EN4AI-NTC and EN4DI5AI3DO2AO-IP. This covers every analogue, digital input and output combination for any BMS or building automation application.
What is the EnNode Protocol Gateway?
+
EnNode is a multi-protocol IIoT gateway that converts between BACnet/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP, MQTT and Pulse protocols. It connects any legacy field device to SmartNova Platform — enabling full interoperability in buildings with equipment from multiple manufacturers and eras.
How does tenant billing work?
+
EnSmart's Nova Tenant Billing System uses sub-meters to measure energy consumption per tenant, floor or department. It automatically imports meter data, allocates costs and generates invoices — eliminating manual meter reading, billing disputes and revenue leakage. GHG reporting is included.
AI-enabled BMS integrates artificial intelligence into building management for predictive fault detection, energy optimization, occupancy intelligence and automated anomaly alerts. EnSmart's AI Analytics on SmartNova Platform is already deployed on live production sites — delivering predictive maintenance, energy AI and 21 CFR pharma reporting.
SOLUTIONS
What is 21 CFR Part 11 compliance in pharma BMS?
+
21 CFR Part 11 is a US FDA regulation requiring electronic records and electronic signatures in pharmaceutical manufacturing to be trustworthy, reliable and audit-ready. EnSmart's SmartNova Platform supports 21 CFR Part 11 with tamper-proof audit trails, timestamped records, role-based access and validated HVAC control sequences.
Can EnSmart BMS help achieve LEED or GRIHA certification?
+
Yes. SmartNova Platform generates energy data in formats compatible with LEED v4, GRIHA and BEE star rating requirements. The Energy Management System exports audit-ready consumption reports that can be submitted directly to green building certification bodies.
What is BEE and ECBC 2017 compliance?
+
BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) and ECBC 2017 (Energy Conservation Building Code) are Indian government standards for energy efficiency in buildings. EnSmart's SmartNova Platform has BEE and ECBC 2017 compliance sequences built natively into the DDC controller firmware and EMS software — not as an add-on.
Does EnSmart serve IT parks and SEZ buildings?
+
Yes. EnSmart has delivered SmartNova Platform deployments at TCS, Infosys, Tidel Park (Coimbatore, Chennai and Pattabiram), Acropolis and other major IT park campuses — delivering per-floor sub-metering, multi-tenant billing, LEED-ready reporting and AI energy benchmarking.
TECHNICAL
What is BACnet protocol?
+
BACnet (Building Automation and Control Networks) is an international open communication protocol standard (ASHRAE 135 / ISO 16484-5) for building automation. EnSmart DDC and SmartNova BMS are native BACnet/IP — no external gateway required, fully interoperable with any certified BACnet device globally.
ISO 16484 is the international standard series for Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS). It defines the functional structure, hardware, software and data communication requirements. EnSmart holds ISO 16484-1:2024 certification and all products are designed in compliance with the full ISO 16484 series.
What is Modbus protocol in building automation?
+
Modbus is a serial communication protocol widely used in industrial automation and building control systems. EnSmart DDC controllers and EnNode Gateways support Modbus RTU (serial) and Modbus TCP (Ethernet) — enabling connection to energy meters, VFDs, chillers and other Modbus-enabled devices.
How does EnSmart's automated engineering work?
+
SmartNova Platform automates the entire engineering workflow: (1) IO list uploaded → controller auto-selected, budget in 24 hours; (2) Wiring drawings auto-generated, panel fabrication starts same day; (3) Graphics generated from Excel — 1,000+ IO points in hours; (4) BACnet Discovery Wizard auto-names points, P2P test report generated instantly. This removes 18–27 days of typical project delays.
COMPLIANCE & CERTIFICATIONS
What certifications does EnSmart hold?
+
EnSmart holds: CE / RoHS certification for hardware, ISO 16484-1:2024 (BACS standard), FDA registration (21 CFR Part 11 pharma). BACnet/IP native per ASHRAE 135 / ISO 16484-5. PICS Statement available. INBAC member. Aligns with ISO 50001, BEE audit-ready, ECBC 2017, GRIHA.
What BACnet standard does EnSmart support and what is PICS?
+
EnSmart DDC controllers implement BACnet/IP natively per ASHRAE 135 / ISO 16484-5 — the international open protocol standard for building automation. PICS (Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement) is the formal technical document declaring exactly which BACnet objects and services a device supports. EnSmart PICS Statement is available for download — confirming full BACnet/IP capability and global interoperability with any BACnet-certified device.
What is ISO 50001 and does EnSmart hold this certification?
+
ISO 50001 is an international standard for Energy Management Systems (EnMS). EnSmart does not currently hold ISO 50001 certification — however, EnSmart's EMS on SmartNova Platform generates ISO 50001-compatible energy reports, consumption data, audit trails and performance metrics. Your organisation can use EnSmart EMS data directly to pursue your own ISO 50001 certification.
